Biography

IFEOMA ANWUNAH-OKOYE, MD, MPH, FAPA

Dr Anwunah-Okoye is the Founder of OkifeMD Consulting Services. She is an adult and general psychiatrist with more than 15 years of practice experience in the State of New Jersey (NJ). She completed her medical school at the University of Nigeria, College of Medicine, Enugu, and her residency program at Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center. New York. Following this she attended and completed her fellowship program in Mood and Personality Disorders Special Evaluation program at the Mount Sinai University School of Medicine, New York. She obtained a master’s degree in public health with a focus on health education and promotion.

Dr Anwunah-Okoye is board-certified in adult and general psychiatry. She is a member and a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). She is also a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), a past treasurer of the ANPA-NJ Chapter, and an active member of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association Council on Advocacy.

She has been actively involved in mental health awareness and disease prevention programs. She was inspired to work on mental health awareness and stigma reduction due to the extent of stigma that still exists globally, and its associated reduction in access to mental health care. Her interests include healthcare promotion and prevention with the belief that collective efforts for public health education to increase mental health awareness and health promotion and collaborative healthcare and the formation of partnerships will help reduce this stigmatization and related mental health issues in diverse populations.
